Mecina Church:
In
Mecina Bombarón we find the of San Miguel Arcángel’s Parochial Church from
the XVIII century, rectangular plant and with cover on arcs of point to
two needles with Arab roofing tile. The facade presents a center body with
a simple cover decorated with arcs of point on which the fronton leans.
The first church began towards 1539 and it was a temple of three stories
and differentiated greater chapel. The moriscos sacked it and set afire,
reason why in 1582 it was rebuild . Throughout centuries XVII it had
numerous repairs but its state threatens the imminent ruin reason why it
advises his demolition and reconstruction in another different place.
Nevertheless before the opposition of the neighbors it was not carried out
the reconstruction in its old location. Our church is a good sample of the
historical and religious architecture at the end of XIX century. The old
quarter of Mecina Bombarón is a construction of neoclassic influence, with
rectangular storey and three heights. The main facade is divided in three
bodies, each body consists of three flat bays. It was old quarter of the
Civil Guard until years ago and represents one of the best examples of
neoclassic in the municipality. |
